So, you have bought an iCarsoft i980 kit to diagnose your Mercedes C Class W204 chassis. You have seen a video of it working, but when you try to connect it does not work and you get a communication failure message. Sound familiar? Well there is a perfectly valid reason for it, and we have the solution for this problem.... Read on.
In this video, you will see the i980 diagnose and reset the ABS ESP warning lights in a W204 Mercedes C Class. This kit is working its magic quite nicely, however if your reading this, the chances are there is a difference between the car in the video and your car. The difference is that the car in the video is a pre face-lift, and the scanner will connect absolutely fine to pre face-lift cars.
If your car is a face-lift W204, the i980 will not connect to the ABS ESP system (although it will connect to other systems like airbags, engine, transmission etc)
The solution is to use the Mercedes iCarsoft MB V1.0 kit, which will allow you to diagnose and reset these warning lights and fault codes. If you get these warning lights and codes, the chances are you need a new ABS sensor which is not the end of the world, and is generally a DIY job if you can set aside a couple of hours and are handy with the spanners.
